Colorado, Lake Powell, and an embarrassing story
Hey guys! I am going to make this a
quick blog post, but I wanted to post some fun vacation memories RJ and I have
had recently. Plus there is an embarrassing story I have to share.
COLORADO
Ryan was solely responsible for
making this trip happen. He grocery shopped, packed, and planned the entire
thing! When we showed up to the camp ground in Silverton there were no spots on
the campground. (Me: Oh darn, looks like we are just going to have to go back
to our warm bed and plumbing!) Ryan and I drove up a big ole, rocky, dirt path
and made a camping spot by a river.
Guys, Colorado is BEAUTIFUL. It is so
green, there are waterfalls everywhere, and everyone is nice! Everyone waves at
you! (When we came back to Utah we were still in Colorado waving mode and no
one waved back haha...gotta love Utah).
Nelly girl loved to peak her head in
the tent to check on us!
If you didn't know, RJ is an
outdoorsy guy. He was in heaven driving in Colorado, "THIS TUNNEL IS MADE
OF THE MOUNTAIN! SO COOL!" (:
The mountain man himself. That hat
did not leave his head! Can you spy the bit of marshmallow leftover from
our s'mores in his scruff?
A man and his pup. One of the little
hikes we went on.
So many waterfalls! We saw deers and
moosen (meese? mooses?) We also saw "woodchucks" I've never heard of
that animal and swore that RJ was making it up. He wasn't.
There's this big mountain everyone
goes jeeping on, it was so awesome!
Nelly does this morning cuddle thing
with us. She will not sleep in bed with us, but every morning she gets so
excited and wedges herself in the middle. Take note of RJ's pillowcase, he
sewed that in a class in high school (:
Pretty sure I was sniffing my armpit.
I was staaankay.
LAKE POWELL
Family tradition with the Jensen and
Fruit fam! We stay in house boats and party all week long! We went jet skiing,
paddle boarding, kayaking, hiking, boating, wake surfing, wake boarding, and
wake skating! Like any cool family would do, we brought dogs.
OKAY. Yoga on a paddle board is so hard, especially with a dog on the
back. I like to call this post, "Beginner's Twerk".

RJ driving the boat!
RJ paddle boarding with Sydney the pup, she's trying to drink the water in this picture haha! Dylan, my brother-in-law in the background.

A super cute selfie my brother-in-law took on my phone.

Wake surfing, well attempting haha. Trying to get to the other side of the wake, faaaaail.
RJ is just a lot more athletic than I am....There was a time when he was wake skating that he fell and held on and ripped his arm out of the socket. Being the kind wife that I am, I took a video and even put it in slow motion.
Tips for Lake Powell:
1. Lube up the slide
2. WEAR A HAT (sunburnt scalp=nasty dandruff)
Embarrassing
Story Time:
So,
the Fruit Family had a houseboat next to ours and theirs had a little slide on
it. Being the cautious person that I am, I could see one million scenarios
where I get hurt. After persistent convincing (peer pressure) I had Zach Fruit
wet down the slide.
Did
it cross my mind that I was completely dry and the so were the sides of the
slide? Nope.
First
part of the slide goes well, I’m moving fast, but then my dry thighs meet with
the dry walls of the slide. I hear a loud, “EEEEEE” my lower body stops, but my
upper body is still going forward.
Physics
people, I face planted. SO HARD! Now I have these big, nasty burns on the side
of my thighs. What can I tell ya, I’m not skipping any meals, my thighs need a
nice slick slide next time.
